Last school year when I was in 9th grade, I went to a school in Montrose Anonymous called Mo-Town High. I had a 3rd hour Geography class with Mr. Dobson as the teacher. Everyone in the class I had known since forever and we all partied together on the weekends. In other words, we all were good friends and were very comfortable around each other. One day when Mr. Dobson was grading papers and letting us go whatever as usual, we started to talk about the yearly prank and what it should be.
Every year, our school always had a group of people who would pull a prank at the end of first semester. It was a tradition that always seemed to fall into place. And this year, our class planned on being the lucky ones to do so. The whole class was in the discussion. We all had to decide what to do and who to do it. The lucky few were left to ten. That included Jacob, Greg, Schmitz, Smurf, K.B.D., Luke, Brooklyn, Robert, Ron, and of coarse me. We were basically the ones chosen to do the prank, and the whole class planned exactly what it would be.
It all started with Luke’s idea at the Mid-year games. That was where every sport would play a game for one whole day at the school. The football field would naturally be the center of attraction. The football game was going to be between the Indians (us), and the Gunnison Tigers (our rivals). It was to be one of the biggest games of the year. During the half-time, the teams would all watch, along with the crowd, the cheerleading teams do dances and cheers that would prepare them for nationals. And that was said to be the best part of the game. Luke* and the rest of us knew that every person in town would be there to watch, and that it was something everyone would attend.
The head cheerleader of the rival school absolutely despised guinea pigs. She happened to once have dated Jacob, and he knew that for a fact. So, we came up with the idea of our own sport. This was called Guinea Pig Relay. We had the idea that it would have 8 guinea pigs and line them up on pre-made lines on the field. The lanes to have them run on would be about 5 feet long, and have 8 lanes. Each guinea pig had a color, number and race name. Smurf wrote down the names and such on paper.

When we had that down, we all chipped in money to go and buy them from the pet shop. Robert was going to buy them, and he and Greg were going to make them capes to be the color and have the number on it. Me and Brooklyn made the lanes on the field and had flags to plant before the cheerleaders came out to cheer. I and K.B.D. would have them in little cages, to release them when they began to cheer. Ron* made the cages we had have an automatic opener set to where we just hit a button, and the latches to the cages would open.
We all thought the plan would be fool-proof. All Schmitz had to do was announce the games over the loud speaker. He was the person from our school that did the announcing at the games any way. We had written him a script to read when the cages opened. All we had to do was prepare and wait.
The day had come, and we all sat in a non-suspicious place in the stands and watch the games. When the Tiger Ladies came out, everything was ready. We all were so nervous!
When the time was right, the cages opened and the guinea pigs ran around the field and the cheerleaders freaked! They fell onto the ground, they screamed and ran off the field, with the whole town laughing at them. No one in the stands could stop laughing. The only people who had gotten mad at our prank were the other school, when a few weeks later they didn’t make it to the nationals. None of us had gotten into trouble, even though we were all ratted out the next day. It was one of the best pranks our school ever witnessed.
