Seeing Barack Obama, Late February 2005, G.S.

From MemoryArchive

Who: S.G.
What: Seeing Senator Barack Obama
When: Late February, 2005
Where: South end of Capitol Hill Neighborhood, Washington, DC

During my lunch break I walked from where my internship was around the corner and down a few blocks to a Chinese restaurant I liked to go to. I rounded that corner and saw a man walking the opposite direction in a suit. We were near the Capitol so seeing a man in a suit is certainly not unusual but I did think I recognized him. In that split second I realized who it was, raised my hand, and smiled and waved like an idiot. Senator Obama was wearing a black suit and a very light blue shirt with a maybe greyish tie. The reason I even noticed him at all from a ways down the street was just that he had a certain something about the way he was walking. It was almost like he had an aura or a glow of confidence around him. To finish my moment of idiocy off I gave him the double thumbs up and all the while smiling like an idiot. He smiled a little maybe amused by my silliness and we kept walking our ways. He is as nice looking as on TV.
