I woke up and the dismal gray filled my room. Pulling back my blinds I could feel the chilly metal. The neighbor’s house was not to be seen. There was so much fog I couldn’t see the little tree we had just planted out front last spring. My first thought was a two hour delay. I ran to the living room and ripped open the front door. The moist air filled my nostrils. Slamming the door, I then turned on the radio to hear the news. Turning the smooth dial in my hands, I found KCII.
I laid in my bed, the warmth of the blankets covering my body. Waiting, just waiting for the good news. All I could think about was what I was going to do with two extra hours. I could be boring and work on homework. I could be lazy and watch T.V. I could also be exciting and go back to bed. That was what I wanted to do. Like most foggy mornings it was bland outside like the walls of a doctor’s office. This weather was perfect for falling back asleep. The music started playing and the DJ, began. “Delays and cancellations for today are as follows,” is all I heard. I jumped off my bed, and put my ear close to the speaker. “Washington School District,” announced the DJ.I ran to my sisters room throwing my arms in the air like a monkey on steroids. She looked at me through her dishelved hair. “What do you want,” she groaned. “We have,” I belted, “a two hour delay.”“Good go back to bed,” she grumbled as she turned over. After I left her room I crawled back under my blankets. This was a day to remember.
