Ode to my first black eye

When I was younger,

We used to play in leaf piles

Like orange igloos.

We would run

Down the hill and jump into the leafs

Until we tired ourselves out.

I was hiding

In a leaf pile

When my friend jumped on top of me by accident,

Broke my nose and gave me two black eyes like prunes.

The next day

Was picture day.

I had my picture taken

With two black eyes.
