Who: Rhonda Bhagwandeen What: Moved back to Brooklyn NY When: August 2006 Where: Florida to New York
I remember it was during the summer before my senior year in high school. Things weren't going so well for my family here in Florida so my parents thought that it would be best to move back to Brooklyn New York, where we originally moved from just 6 years earlier. I didn't want to move back, especially during my senior year because i was just getting ready to graduate and get on with my life. Unfortunately we ended up moving back to New York and i thought it was the most horrible thing that happened to me because i got used to my life down here and appreciated what i had. We moved up to New York and when i tried to go to school there, they wanted to put me back into the eleventh grade. I wasn't going to take that. After staying up there for about a month and a half with my family, my parents found it hard to find good jobs and a decent neighborhood to live in and they didn't want me back in school for an extra year. Surprisingly, the decision was made to move back to Florida after just 2 short months and i can't begin to tell you how ecstatic i was. I loved my stay in New York because i was around my family all over again. But still, i knew i had to get on with my life and i didn't want to live there anymore. When i moved back to Florida, i got everything back including my house! This may sound funny but as soon as i came back to my house, my next door neighbor said to me "welcome home". I don't know why but those words just meant so much to me because it made me realize how much i appreciated my life here before it was changed. Now, i don't take my life for granted because i know that in a few short days, it could all be gone or changed completely.
