Hurricane Katrina affected everyone that was in the path of it. A few of the people that were in the path of it are my family members. Thankfully, nothing too drastic happened to my home. Regretfully, that is not true for many of the homes on the Gulf Coast. Many homes were flooded and others were completly torn down.
Many people suffered great losses resulting from Hurricane Katrina. It showed people what nature is capable of. I stayed at home when the hurricane hit and my uncle and his family stayed with mine. My family's garage flooded and some roofing was damaged, but overall my house was fine. However, when my uncle's family went home after Katrina passed us, there was nothing there.
Overall, Hurricane Katrina was a very devistating and destructive ordeal. Many people are still recovering and some never got the chance. The electricity was down for weeks, gas production went down while the marketing went up. Food shortages and muddy faucet water were absolutly horrible. Our rivers were contaminated and our community members suffered. People were killed because of this hurricane.
In conclusion, people now realize how important it is to be prepared and how precious life really is. People now understand how everything they have worked for can be taken away in just a few minutes. People now understand that sometimes, time really is of the essence.
