There are numerous memories that I have from Hurricane Katrina. For example, the feeling of being in the dark, the horrible heat, and the disbelief out the outcome. However the one memory of hurricane Katrina that I will never forget is the devistaion. I thought the world was literaly going to end.
Before the hurricane actually hit no one thought is was going to be as serious as it really was. This was the time when my sister was still working a tMcdonalds, and I remeber when she came home from work she was telling us about it. Of course we didn't think much of it because we had several storms recently and they weren't that bad. Instead of becoming cautious we didn't really think twice about it.
The Sunday befroe the storm hit we went to church like usual. At church is where we realized that we were truly in danger. Hardly no one was there because they were either out of town or preparing to leave. Thats when my mom began to have second thoughts about it but not so much to where she was prepared to leave. She still wasn't convinced.
Later on when we went to the store there was hardly no food ar anything left. Thats when my mom looked to me and said "So what do you suggest we do?" I told her that we should seek shelter with the family. We did. Almost my entire familywent to my aunt's house. Thats where we stayed for the storm .
As the night went on the weather began to get really bad. So bad the the electiricity went out. That is when we all relized that my aunt did not have a generator. That was a big dissapointment. We did okay until it started to get reall yhot. Thats whren we opened a couple of windows. We soon had to close the windows because of the rain. Hot and a little worried we were still all safe.
Now that I look back on the thing I went through during the storm I regret complaining. I was doing alot better than some of the people in Louisiana. But how could I have known? All I can truly say is I am grateful to GOd that me and my family survived the storm and we and our houses are all in one piece.
