Who: My family and I What: Hurrican Katrina When: September 2005 Where: Moss Point, Ms
Hurricane Katrina didn't really affect my life. We lived in Pascagoula but we moved about 2 months before it hit. We moved to Franklin Creek where the hurricane didn't do too much damage. It didn't really do damage at all.
Though it did cut off our power for about a week or two. It made all the groceries we had in the refrigerator go bad. It made my parents use up a lot of money. Instead of that it mainly just blew trash and trees around. I had to pick up a lot of trash.
It affected my grandparents badly. The hurricane took out their house. I had to go through their house and salvage their important papers. It was hard to do because everything was thrown around. It was messy and they had to come live with us for a while. It took a whole lot of money to fix up there house and it just now got done nearly a year later.
My family going through the house trying to help clean it out made us all get sick a lot. When the hurricane hit they got about 8 feet of water in there house. It took most of their belongings and pictures with it. It made it where my grandpa is going to have to work the rest of his life.
