In 1998, the KKK decided that they would stage a rally in Waco, Texas. The community as a whole decided this was a bad idea, and so a large number of people turned out to yell obscenities at them, myself included.
The rally was on McLennan County Courthouse steps, located in Waco, Texas. When my friend and I arrived there, there were already about 100 people protesting the rally, and were behind police barricades separating the KKK members from the protesters.
The KKK members were dressed in their full regalia; they had on the white robes, white caps, and had on various sashes, some with different colors. I assume this had someting to do with rank. The majority of the KKK members were silent, but a vocal 3 were using bullhorns to yell obscenities against minorities and KKK slogans, including "White Power!" and "Send the [blacks] back to Africa!"
On the other side, people were basically swearing at the KKK and condemning them, but one guy had an interesting take on the situation, and was using a bullhorn to condemn the "FBI infiltration of the KKK," and was pointing at one guy in particular as being an FBI agent. Interesting.
Eventually, someone in the protester group got a bullhorn attached to his CD player and was blasting some song (I forget what it was) that riled up the KKK. The silent members of the KKK started yelling at him and moved towards the barricades, and the Waco Police Department advised both sides that it was prudent that both sides dispersed, which they did after about 15 minutes.
In all, the rally lasted about an hour, because the KKK was heavily outnumbered.
