Ever since I was little, I loved to play sports. I played soccer, basketball, and baseball. I always was one of the faster and better players. I was always scoring goals, getting base hits, and running up and down the court with all the other kids. My mom always said that my whole family was very blessed.
Then one cold in November day, I did something to my knee. I was running at a track in town for boy scouts. We had to run one full lap around the track. It was part of a requirement for our first rank. I was on the final turn, and I started to sprint. Then out of nowhere, it felt like someone was taking a hammer and hitting my knee with it.
Not to long after I recovered from that injury, I started having problems with my feet. I felt like I was fighting a war that would never end. I had problems with my heel, my ankles, and my bones in my foot. I continuously kept getting hurt. The doctors said that most of the problems were just because I was growing; I thought that he was probably right.
My dad did some research on the Internet and found out some stretches I could do. So for about six months, I had to do the same stretches every day. Before games and practices I had to stretch twice as long. I was almost healed and then I hit another brick wall.
After all those injuries, I have lost a lot of my speed and agility. I am still playing all the same sports and I haven’t lost my love for the games. Every now and then, I have some aches and pains in my feet. All I can do is just suck it up and go out and play. If you run into a brick wall like I did sometime in your life, just keep on pushing through. It will get better. Trust me.
