In 1991, Hurricane Bob hit Southern Massachusetts with strong winds and rain. Only being a child at the time, it was one of the more frightening experiences of my life. I remember losing electricity very early into the storm. My parents had moved us into the basement, forbidding me from going to my room in case any windows broke and glass shattered. We sat by flashlight, listening to the battery-powered radio. My mom tried to occupy me by reading stories to me, but it was difficult to ignore the storm as strong winds gusted pass the house, whistling as they went by. I remember falling asleep in that same basement that night. As a young kid, it was one of the more frightening experiences of my life, and I remember it as my first experience seeing Mother Nature’s true ability.
