Who: Anonymous What: Glass Blowing When: 2005 Where: Wisconsin
I have always been interested in glass blowing. I always thought it was a mystery art, and never really understood how it was done, but it has always intriguied me. The first time I saw glass blowing first hand, I was 13 and on a trip to Venice with my family. While wandering around in a back ally, we had the opportunity to watch a local artist blowing glass animals. Since then, I have been interested in the art. Over time, I have a met local glass blowers in Milwaukee, and have had the good fortune to obtain the equipment and begin to teach myself how to blow glass. It is a difficult and frustrating trade, but I am slowly learning, and the results are rewarding and well worth the effort. I started out working on small beads, and have now moved on to making larger ornaments, and am working with inside-out coloring and blowing pieces. Hopefully, in time this could lead to some income and eventually I can make back some of the money I invested in the equipment. I have found that pursuing something that I am interested in has been well worth the time, patience, hard work and money spent.
