Sitting at the babysitter's on the living floor room just watching the usual morning cartoons. I was in my Barney pajamas. She had a newer dog that was very hyper at times and she let it out of his cage. The dog came in the living room and came behind me and bit me in the ear. I was sitting there terrified not knowing what to do. I started crying and yelling for the babysitter. She called my dad and he took me to the emergency room. I was lying there in pain as a seven-year-old thinking my world was ending. I layed there staring at the big Mickey Mouse picture on the wall. I was so scared I was shaking. The doctor said to lay still and he was going to put stitches in. I wasn’t sure about the whole stitching my ear up. It was a scary thought. The doctor started putting stitches in and I remember it was very painful. My dad told me it would be ok but I was still scared. After lying there for a few minutes but feeling like it had been a few hours the doctor said I could get up. My first reaction was I better get up slow so it doesn’t pull out the stitches. He told me to take it easy and he would see me back in a few days for a check up. I remember telling my mom and that I never wanted to go back to the babysitter's because of the dog. I was young and didn’t understand but I had my mind set to not ever see that dog again. Going back for my checkup the doctor said my ear was getting better. He said the next time I came in if it was all healed up he would take the stitches out. Another week or two went by so it was time to go back. My doctor said he could take them out now. I didn’t know if it would hurt or not. I was scared so my dad said it doesn’t hurt while getting your stitches out. He was right. It just hurt because I was so nervous. Finally everything was done. I ended up with a big scar on the back of my ear. I will never forget the time the dog came up and just bit me.
