Growing up in Houston

What do you remember about Houston?

I Went to Montrose Elm. We lived at 811 Sul Ross in the Montrose, and later in Mangum Manor at 5202 Poinciana. I went to F.M. Black Jr. High and S.P.Waltrip starting in the High Ninth the day they opened their doors.

McDonalds was a steak house on S. Main where the Mediac Center is now. Walking distance to the Shamrock Hilton. They had the rights to the name and kept Ronald McDonald out of Houston till the late 70's. Te closent McDonalds in the 50's was in Austin.
