I woke up one morning over Thanksgiving break to see my mother in the room. She told me that my high school friend Greg had died in Iraq. This led to a brutal Thanksgiving and me returning a little over a week later for his funeral. I do remember protesters near the church and an hour and a half sermon by a preacher who was trying to get all of us to shout out we "Love Jesus" and we want to be "born again." I was already pissed off about losing one of my friends and both the protesters and the preacher incensed me more. They both seemed to be disrespecting what was left of my and everyone else's last respects to a friend I grew up with. I calmed down as we went to the cemetery and he received his graveside military honor.
