What: Coldplay
When: September 30, 2005
Where: Nissan Pavillion in Arlington, Virginia

Coldplay played their last show on the American leg of their Twisted Logic tour at the Nissan Pavilion. Considering that I attend school at American University it was ideal for me to see one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan every since hearing their song “yellow” I was a closet fan because of the flack that other people would give the band. People would call it “wussy-rock” or even say that the music did not deserve to be in the same category as real rock music. Nonetheless, I enjoy listening to their music. This concert was the first time that I saw them play live. I had recently seen television coverage of them playing at Live 8 and it seemed that it would be awesome to see them in person. So it was great when I found out the day off of the concert that I would be attending. There was so much traffic which did cause me to be a bit late for the concert however when I got there it was just completely amazing. The band sounded great and it was everything that I imagined it would be. There was a great light show that accompanied the music and it would flash according to the beat of the music. The band happened to do a few Johnny Cash songs in memory of the great musician, and they also dedicated a song to all those fighting in Iraq, and of course they planned their hits. The funniest thing happened at the concert as well. After one of the songs, someone happened to throw some flowers onto the stage. This nice gesture happened to make Chris Martin (who performs the lead vocals) to burst out “We are in a fucking rock band, we shouldn’t get flowers” but he meant it in good humor and the audience laughed. It was a great night. The weather was just right for the outdoor show and people were there to have a great time and I was definitely one of the many that had a great time.
