One early morning, my friend Chris and I were woken to hurry up and get ready. We were rushing and getting packed, not even realizing what was going on. We were going to Chicago. But not just us, so was the rest of our sixth grade class. Field trip. We got up at about five in the morning, but it was worth it.First, we had to get to the school before everyone left. After everyone was there, we loaded up the buses and we were off. This was the first time some of the others have been away from their parents, at least a state away. But, there were plenty of chaperones to make everybody comfortable and have a good time. There were two buses, but everybody got to pick which one to be one and be with their friends. I sat mostly with Chris, which I have known for almost my whole life. The buses were definitely prepared for a bunch of kids on a long trip. There was a television that was always playing a movie. The seats were very comfortable if you wanted to just relax or sleep. It was even pretty wide on the inside of the buses, so it didn’t seem very crowded. It was quite rowdy though, after we got an hour or so into the ride, everybody was awake and excited. People were talking, watching movies, listening to music, and just trying to pass the time. After a few hours, we are finally there. But, where are we? Chicago? Not exactly, we were at the hotel. With just enough time to take our bags to our rooms, we were already off again. This time the trip wasn’t so long. We were going to eat at a place called Medieval Times, a restaurant where you relive the time of knights, kings and the famous “sport” of jousting. You were given a full meal that was sure to satisfy, but there was one catch, you had no silverware or utensils. Everyone had to use his or her bare hands, but the food was delicious. Then, we went back to the hotel for the night. But the next day was going to be even better. We will actually be in Chicago. There was much to do, and many places to go. We went to a zoo, an aquarium, and took a boat tour onto the Great Lake Michigan. All of the places were fun and exhilarating. But, everything seemed to happen so fast. Still, it was a lot of fun and a great experience and opportunity.Another thing was that everyone matched. What I mean is everyone had a shirt that said Chicago 2004 and they were all the same color. We didn’t want to lose anyone, because there is always that rule of safety first. Even though nobody wanted to leave yet, it was soon going to be time to go. Fortunately, nobody got seriously hurt or injured. Everyone had a good time and was actually ready to go home.My trip to Chicago was a great experience and a fun chance to visit another place. I like to think about this time and just remember good times from when I was younger. It also gives me something to tell friends and family. Most people need a break in their life just so they can get out and see other different parts of the world, even if it’s not very far away. But it is also an event I can look forward to again, but not exactly another trip to Chicago.
