Caledonia's BBQ - Tampa , FL
From MemoryArchive
Who: Donna Meadows What: Caldonia's Barbecue When: 1970s Where: Tampa, Florida
Friday and Saturday nights cars lined up to get some of Caldonia's barbecue. It was only available those nights and cars would line up while one person in the car got in line at the tiny shack where Caldonia stood behind the counter and handed down his fabulous barbecue to those in line. I always had a pulled pork sandwich and what made it special was the slice of fresh white cabbage Caldonia included, to cut the fiery spices burn in your mouth!
Caldonia was a gracious and friendly man and would visit with his grateful customers as they waited for the freshest and best barbecue in Tampa. The barbecue was his part-time business since he worked full time during the week. Advertising was completely unnecessary! People knew about his great barbecue and were bereft if they showed up too late and it was all gone!
