Bombing of Afghanistan, 2001, by Anon.
From MemoryArchive
Who: Me! And the United States military and some unfortunate Afghanis. What: A lot of bombs. When: 2001 Where: Afghanistan
This seems like a long time ago. Sure, it doesn't have that same flashbulb memory you'll never ever forget where you are quality that 9/11 possesses, but I still can remember what was happening fairly clearly. One thing I can't remember however, is the date on which it occurred. Oh well.
I distinctly remember that I was at my friend Kevin's house, in his backyard. There were a bunch of us young kids and we were playing capture the flag. This wasn't just normal capture the flag. One kid had brought night vision. Other than that, I suppose it was just normal capture the flag. And given that it wasn't particularly dark, it was pretty much completely normal capture the flag.
We were playing for hours. My team kept winning and winning, over and over again. I'm not sure why. It certainly wasn't because of anything I was doing. I was slow. Or at least not fast. Several games in, Jenny somehow (I have no idea how) found out that we had bombed Afghanistan. She told us all. As such young kids, we had no real idea what to think of it. Or at least I didn't. I was on my Fox News binge at this age because I thought it would make me smarter than the other kids because it was fair and balanced. Right. I learned eventually.
