Bad Boys of Rock Memoir
As the lights dimmed in the mouse hole of a concert hall, the crowd went crazy. They all had waited for this moment……The Bad Boys of Rock Tour had officially started, and Buckcherry was the going to be the first to rock Louisville Gardens. As the alternative rock band came out onto the stage the crowd went into a frenzy. The show was on. Buckcherry started off by playing a few of their hit songs of the newest record “15”. Lead singer Josh Todd was like a crazy man, dancing around the stage screaming into the microphone. The crowd was eating it up. With every note strummed on the guitars it seemed like the crowd just got louder and louder. During the time buckcherry was on stage I had beer spilled on me, got hit on by drunk women, and got me ear drums blown away. I loved every second of it.The second band in the lineup was another established heavy rock/ alternative band called Papa Roach. This band had no problem getting the crowd going, somehow even managed to get them more riled up than Buckcherry had. They played a few songs off the new record “The Paramour Sessions” to get things going, but quickly gave all their die-hard Papa Roach fans what they came to hear (the classics). Somehow during the middle of one of the songs lead singer Jacoby Shaddix got the nerves up to make his way through the crowded arena floor and all the way up to the “cheap seats” to get some interaction with the crowd. He also let all the people sitting down during this time they were at the wrong place if they wanted 2 sit back and relax, even specifically telling one fan he needed 2 get up and rock. During the Papa Roach performance they had a special guest appearance by a man who was singing later in the night, Hinder Lead singer Austin Winkler .Although the drunk chicks managed to find the nearest exit, I don’t know exactly why, I still was getting my ear drums blown away and getting doused by all different kind of beer assortments. It was all worth it. Finally about 2 and a half hours after the event had started it was time for the main band, Hinder. They showed a short video segment to sort of “open up” their part of the show. After the video was over a curtain which was once covering the stage fell and there on the stage was Hinder, playing the hit song, how long, of their debut record. During the Hinder concert I saw mosh pits, crowd surfing, fighting, and other things. It was all awesome. Hinder sent the crowd into a riot type mode where everyone was just off the walls. They played every song off their debut album “Extreme Behavior”, the NASCAR theme (Born to be Wild), and an old song that didn’t make the cut for the current album and also a song off their future C.D. It was truly an unforgettable night. After being called onto the stage for an encore they finished off the night by playing the two famous songs “Better than me” and finally “Get Stoned”. As we drove home that night I thought about all the things I had experienced in the past couple of hours. “not bad for a thirty dollar ticket” I thought to myself.
