Who: Kurran Ochwat What: Attack on the World Trade Center When: September 11, 2001 Where: Columbus, OhioI remember being woken up from a peaceful slumber by a ringing cell phone. I was over at my ex-girlfriends house holding her in my arms when I mumbled for her to ignore the call. It was hard for the both of us to fall back asleep so we began to kiss one another. Well, one thing led to another but in the middle of our “act” both her house phone and cell phone were constantly ringing. This created a frustrating atmosphere for both of us to conclude our “business”. Finally, she turned off her cell phone and turned the ringer off on her house phone. Back in the mood, we were interrupted one final time by pounding on her bedroom door. “Wake up you two!” “The World Trade Center was just hit by an airplane!” We decided to get up and go downstairs to see what all of the fuss was about. When I turned on the television I could not believe what was going on right before my eyes. I saw one tower in flames and then witnessed the second airplane flying into the second building and then proceeded to watch them crumble. I was absolutely furious upon seeing our nation attacked by terrorists. Having just got out of the Army I knew that I would miss out on the opportunity on seeking justice. This put my in a deep depression for several weeks having dedicated over 3 years of my life preparing for war and not being able to go. When you are in the military you crave for war whatever the reason. Now I missed my chance. I went into work the following evening at Champs restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. The place was pretty crowded with patrons drinking beer and watching the news on every screen in the restaurant. I would later find out that my brothers best friend lost his uncle who was in one of the towers that was hit. I will remember that day for the rest of my life and will honor the souls of every American that died that day.
