I was a wee 6th grader at the time, so I don't remember it all that well. But what I do remember is that me and my mother were leaving Nellis Air Force Base for school at approximately 7AM (PST) and were listening to the radio and they were talking about the attacks. My mother let out a startled "what!?" as we rolled out of the front gate to see the mile-or-so long stretch of cars filled with people waiting to get on base to their jobs. I had no idea what the World Trade Center was or even that someone could fly a plane into a building. Just the plain fact that something was seriously wrong.

As I arrived in my first period english class I then saw the horror on the television at the back of the classroom, the news kept playing the attacks over, and over, and over again as if it weren't painful enough the first time. Even as sixth graders we couldn't stop watching the horrific events that were unfolding before our eyes. This went on for another four class periods until I boarded the bus to go home.
