Who: Jessica Foster What: When I heard the news about 9/11 When: September 11th, 2001 Where: At school in London, Ontario
When I heard the news about 9/11, I was in grade four at school. My teacher told us and at the time I couldn't fully understand what had happened. All she said was that two planes had crashed into the world trade centre in New York. So I forgot about the news pretty quickly because I couldn't understand what this meant at the time. I didn't know that it meant that there had been a huge loss of life because of this and that the effects of this incident were devastating and I would remember this for my whole life. These are all things that I know now in high school and I can now see that the events of that day were shocking and horrible. When I was younger and I watched the images on TV of the planes crashing into the buildings, this meant nothing to me. Now when watching the same footage I feel like I can fully understand what happened and it makes me upset and horrified to watch this. I feel awful for all the people that were effected by this 5 years ago and are still effected today. I hope that everyone has the chance to rebuild their lives to the way they were before.
