I remember my old phone number OV7-7171. I remember being the remote for our three channels on the black and white and the aluminum foil on the antennae. I remember watching Kiterick (local TV show) and everyone's favorite food as pronounced by the six year olds on the show as spasketti. Channel 11 with Sid Lasher with the weather (he used butcher paper and a black magic marker). I used to watch The Cadet Don show and his hand puppet Seymore. Saturday night had the local TV scarry show called "Weird". The Houston Colt 45's and getting eaten alive by mosquitos at Colt stadium. I can still remember the trucks that sprayed for mosquitos. Sonic Booms from Ellington Air Force Base. The Houston Astros with Rusty Staub, Bob Aspromonte, Dennis Menke, Jimmy Wynn, Joe Morgan, Larry Dirker, the late Don Wilson, Gene Elston and Loel Passe. I was a Astro Buddy. Houston Oilers at Rice Stadium. Jim Norton, Hoyle Granger, Mac Haik, Olen Underwood, Ode Burrell, Woody Campbell, Pete Beathard, George Webster, WK Hicks, Sid Blanks, Zeke Moore, Kenny Houston, Bob Talamini. Cita Con Carlos. Channel 26 had bull fighting. The highest bridge when I was small over the ship channel. Color TV city, Tommy Vaughn Ford, Oh thank heaven for Seven Eleven. Mayor Louie Welch. U of H football and basketball. Coach Yeoman, Gerry Mullins, Warren McVea, Paul Gipson, Elvin Hayes, Poo Welch, Theodis Lee, George Reynolds. Greatest basketball game ever Big "E" versus Lew Al Cinder, Houston Wrestling with Paul Boesch, Nick Kozak, Wahoo McDaniel, Professor Molenko, Wild Bull Curry, Johnny Valentine, Mil Mascaras. Christmas was not Christmas until my Grandmother took me on the bus to downtown Houston to see the Christmas displays in front of the Foleys and then we had handburgers at the Walgreens. Shopping at the Weingartens. I can still remember the Astroworld ditty. Anything in Bellaire was considered the country. It's ten o-clock, where are your children? KILT 610 AM played the Beatles. Hudson and Harrigon on KNUZ. Princes Hamburgers. Picnics at Memorial park. Swimming at Clear Lake. Candles lit for hurricane Carla.
