Who: Tyler Norton
What: 1991 Gulf War
When: 1991
Where: Mostly in my basement in Canada, in front of the TV

I was only about two years old, but I still manage to remember a lot of the feelings of the time. I remember seeing video of the Patriot missiles firing, and thinking they were pretty cool. I myself mostly enjoyed the stories on TV, but my parents had different feelings. I was 2, my sister was only 6 months old, and at the beginning of the war my parents were worried that the war would escalate into a larger, possibly world-wide war. I imagine for parents with new children, threats like this seem even more serious when you now have children you love and need to protect.

The war was a fast one, and as the days went by the tensions eased rapidly as the coalition forces swept through Kuwait, but it was my first consious run in with war, and it has forever affected my outlook on armed conflict.
