There were many things that affected people during and especially after Hurricane Katrina. Fortunately, I was one of the very lucky that didnt lose anything. I had no damages done to my home. Unfortunately, there were those that didnt make it out as fortunate as me.

Some had the mind of "I'm not going anywhere, this is my home and I'm just going to wait it out". After the storm, though I believe alot of them wished they had changed their minds. In certain parts of Mississippi, includind where I live we went a week without lights and and three days after the storm without water. So, this was what a I call a disaster, but all in all after hearing about those in New Orleans I started to think about the bright side and what I really all I really had I was taking for granted.

People in certain parts of New Orleans lost everything. Let me explain what I mean by everything, not only did they lose homes, lights, water, and things of that sort they lost their mothers, fathers, and children which I know was hard. Those people didn't have anything but themselves for the first part. They saw no fema and red cross they were making it off of each other. New Orleans "The Place of Blues and Fun" as it was known around the world had been torn apart by that terrible disaster Katrina.

All in all, New Orleans is gaining alot of its people back, but there are those who say their not going back simply because it's just not the same anymore. This storm tore apart alot of people homes and hearts apart, but one thing it couldnt tear apart were those that knew what the true meaning of the storm was meant for. America as a whole needed to come together as a whole like it was started off as, instead of seperations into races and different incomes. Katrina was a wake up call saying just because you have alot of things that others don't, don't take it for granted because God can take it away in the blink of an eye, the same as he gave it to you.
