Who: Sona P. What: London Bombing When: July 7, 2005 Where: London
I went to London over the summer before my senior year through a program. I went with a few of my friends and we were all assigned different jobs around the city and I was assigned to work with children at a local school. We had been there for a week and were getting used to the daily routine of walking to work or using the tube. On the morning of July 7th, a regular busy day, people were pushing and shoving to get on the tube and not be late for work. Well somehow I was able to make it on the shuttle and reached my destination in time. Once we got to the next station the power went out and everyone was rushed outside and were told it was only a power outage. So I went to work and two hours later we were informed that there had been terroist attacks on the tube. The teacher then told me that it had been the train after the one I had got on and it had occurred near the dorms we were staying in. So I called my parents who were frantic and told them that i had been lucky enough to miss the bombings. Luckily all my other friends were safe, but one of them did see the bus explode. However everyone in the city responded in a calm way but my parents made me come home the two days later which was good because there had another bombing two weeks later.
